Scouting’s Highest Award

On March 22, Mayor Adam Salina presented Jonathan Chicker with the following proclamation: “BE IT HEREBY KNOWN TO ALL THAT: The Town of Berlin hereby recognizes Jonathan P. Chicker on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America. In recognition of his commitment to his family, community and the principles of Eagle Scouting, the Town Council congratulates Jonathan and extends best wishes to him in all of his future endeavors.” Chicker is a member of Troop 44 which is sponsored by the Berlin Lions Club. Since joining Troop 44 six years ago, Chicker advanced through seven ranks, earned 37 merit badges, was awarded membership in the Order of the Arrow. He celebrated achieving the rank of Eagle at a Court of Honor ceremony on March 6 at Bethany Covenant Church. Perhaps the most well-known aspect of the Eagle Scout achievement is the completion of a Leadership Service Project. The project requires a Scout to “plan, develop, and give leadership to others” in a project that is helpful to a religious institution, school, or community.
